TGX6 Cold Work Die Steel
TGX6 is a patented cold work die steel grade exclusively developed and manufactured by Tiangong International. Building on the proven high-chromium cold work steel platform (the D2/SKD11 family), Tiangong's R&D has refined the alloy system and production process to address the key limitation of conventional D2 — relatively low toughness and susceptibility to edge chipping in high-impact or intermittent-cut applications.

Material Properties
TGX6 delivers working hardness in the 60–64 HRC range, comparable to standard SKD11/D2. The distinguishing characteristic is improved impact toughness at full hardness — attributed to Tiangong's carbide refinement process. Compressive strength and abrasion resistance are maintained at the high levels expected of this steel class. The steel exhibits good dimensional stability in heat treatment, consistent with the high-Cr cold work family. Surface coatings (TiN, TiAlN, DLC) are readily applicable.
Through proprietary alloy optimization and advanced steelmaking (including secondary refining and controlled rolling), TGX6 achieves a more uniform distribution of finer carbides than standard D2. This translates to measurably better toughness without sacrificing the high hardness (60–64 HRC) and wear resistance that make the D2 family indispensable for long-run cold work tooling.
TGX6 is available exclusively through Tiangong's authorized agents. PT. Precision Special Steel supplies TGX6 plate with full Tiangong documentation. It is a direct upgrade path from SKD11 for customers experiencing premature die failure due to chipping or cracking, rather than abrasive wear.
