TGP80 Plastic Mould Steel
TGP80 is Tiangong International's proprietary premium plastic mould steel, designed specifically for applications where surface finish quality is the primary tooling requirement. Pre-hardened to 38–42 HRC — significantly harder than standard P20/2311 or 2738 — TGP80 combines ready-to-machine convenience with the superior hardness and cleanliness needed for high-gloss and optical-quality plastic moulding.

Material Properties
TGP80 is supplied pre-hardened to 38–42 HRC with high cross-sectional uniformity. The proprietary composition — a refined Cr-Ni-Mo system with strict inclusion content limits — achieves a polishability level comparable to dedicated mirror mould steels such as ESR-refined grades. Machinability at 38–42 HRC requires rigid setups and sharp, quality carbide tooling, but is manageable with modern CNC equipment. EDM (electric discharge machining) response is excellent. The higher hardness versus 2311/2738 reduces plastic erosion and mold wear in high-cycle applications.
The grade is manufactured using advanced steelmaking with stringent inclusion control, producing the clean, homogeneous matrix essential for achieving mirror-finish polish grades (VDI ≤ 0 achievable by experienced polishers). This makes TGP80 the preferred choice for lenses, light guides, optical components, and high-end consumer product surfaces where any surface defect in the mould transfers directly to the plastic part.
At 38–42 HRC, TGP80 also delivers better wear resistance than standard pre-hardened grades under abrasive plastic flows, extending mould service life between polishing maintenance cycles. Available exclusively through Tiangong authorized agents including PT. Precision Special Steel.
